Even ‘normal’ life is hard.
Hi, I’m Emily Basirico, LCMHCA, MS, NCC.
I’m a licensed mental health counselor who helps everyday people navigate everyday challenges. Sometimes that’s starting college, sometimes it’s moving through grief, and sometimes it is the normal challenges most of us face at least once in life. My hope is to assist with whatever someone needs when they walk through my door!
I have always been indecisive, but I now recognize that as a strength. My liked songs playlist is the weirdest, most fun shuffle ever. I might be spending a day off laying around or hiking, but I am happy either way. I could NEVER decide between dogs and cats. I can be both awkward and confident and I am okay with that.
Not being able to make up my mind extends to my work. I am constantly learning new approaches to counseling and pull from whatever approach it seems my clients needs at that time.

Professional Bio
Emily Basirico, LCMHCA, MS, NCC started at Insight Professional Counseling Services after she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with her Masters of Science in Counseling. Previously, she attended Catawba College and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology. Emily enjoys working with individuals and couples across the lifespan with a variety of concerns, including grief, relationships, and life transitions. While Emily strongly believes in an individualized approach, she tends to draw from person centered, ACT, and CBT approaches to counseling most frequently.
